Okay Mr. Bieber, I see you.
I once did a major photography project based on the idea of masks and the fact that no-one has the exact same personality twice in a week, or even twice in their whole lives; though we are often exposed to people who are completely themselves, outside factors always influence the way a person thinks, acts, moves, talks - our entire existence is a hotchpotch of everything we have ever been exposed to and I think that’s marvellous.
For some people, masks are used as a form of beauty, as in to adapt socially to new situations, to learn new things and to blossom in their surroundings. For others, the mask is something to hide their inner self behind due to fear. Every person is capable of wearing a zillion masks, and I believe that the choices we make are essentially based on a choice of what face to show to the world this second, minute, day, lifetime.

“When you’re a girl, you have to be, like, everything. You have to be, you have to be dope at what you do, but you have to be super sweet. And you have to be sexy, and you have to be this, and you have to be that, and you have to be nice, and you have to—it’s like, I can’t be all those things at once. I’m a human being.”

When you tell gay Americans that they can’t serve their country openly or marry the person that they love you’re telling that to kids too. So don’t be fucking shocked and wonder where all these bullies are coming from that are torturing young kids and driving them to kill themselves because they’re different, they learned it from watching you.
